Daphne/Hypseus games.. how it's really works ?

On my home i have setup the 'ecosystem' of retropie (using retropie setup script) on my Ubuntu 22.04.3 installed on a Intel NUC.
From here i have successfully compiled the current Hypseus source and i have add some of games picked from @thread here:

https://www.retroroms.info/forum/topic/-Recalbox-Daphne-Roms.htm

Currently i have add Dragon's Lair 2 Time Warp and Space Ace directly from my Childhood memories......... apparently all works flawlessy but i have a lot of question about that.

Example:

For Space Ace i also know exist a 'ENHANCEMENT' version of same games..... my principal question it's. It's exist a different movie/audio set? Or the video/audio it's the same and i can use the same files from ViRuS-MaN thread ?

How this Daphne/Hypseus games really works ? About the folder system...... i can use anywant folder and all games need to stay in a specifical subfolders ?

Thanks for any info......

I am not a specialist, but i think "enhanced" often refers to the DVD remasters of the original LD games. There are a multitude of variants "out there" for every game, and not easy to keep track of, so a qualified guess would be if you see something "enhanced", it looks better.

Also, a handful of the games from the LD era were "remade" so you could play them on a DVD player with your remote control, could also refer to that, but that would probably also infer some sort of upscaling, so if you got a working Daphne setup, go for those.

Haven't tried the Singe engine yet, it is supposedly a ton better, let me know if you have any luck with that.

"Space Ace Enhanced" - can be run on Daphne/Hypseus with the Daphne ROM sae - It uses the same video/audio as standard Space Ace (ace). So if on Linux you can symlink the same video/vldp folders for both games.

There is also a Dragon's Lair 1 (lair) - enhanced addition ROM called dle21 that use te same video/audio as it's parent in Daphne.

"Dragon's Lair 2 Enhanced" exists as a ROM, but isn't supported in Daphne/Hypseus. There is however a Singe simulation of the game called "DL2e" , which is not going to be anything like the true emulated ROM version.

 @Wampa

So if i understand correcly i'm only need to choice what version i want to add to my collection exactly ?

Made an example.... the first Dragon's Lair it's apparently exist in two ways.

The singe 2 port and the roms mode and both version works whit only recent version of hypseus.

If i understand correctly all both version need same video in format m2v and ogg (video and audio track) but my question it's...... what it's the correct video i need to use ?

I have found a very different version whit different resolution but above all with different durations.

For example i have tryed some of video this and whit DLe singe version from @DirtBagXon github here:

https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus_singe_data/tree/master/00-singe2/DLe

After put lair.m2v and lair.ogg (and rename it or modify the framefile whit correct filename) apparently it's not playable. The games start whit DIRK like a death animation and apparently all games are messed up.

I have thinks the video and audio tracks have some issue whit frames search or somethings similar.

What it's the correct video i have to use ? in this period or tried to study the thing a bit how all this works....

The most that gets done for Daphne/Hypseus games  throughout the years is better resolution......

On any other year I would agree with you. But not this.....
