The MAME2000_Reference_Set_Update_2_ROMs_Samples on archive.org is not complete! Attached fix_Datfile for missing files. |
Aren't your missing roms in Mame 0.209 or the rollback set?
Edit: I checked with the 0.37b5 dat from http://www.progettosnaps.net/dats/MAME/ and it doesn't contain your missing roms. |

Thank you Happyface but after rom rebuild all files was deleted, because no missing CRCs found at all Example: the file "arkatour.uc" from your zip file has crc="D3249559" I use RomVault. I set it up to delete files if it exists in another set (no duplicates) except you have another folder with a DAT that use it also). If it is not in another set it will be moved to "ToSort" folder. All files was deleted from RomVault. But hey, it is only for archiving the Reference 2000 Set. I use allways the newest MAME and I'm uptodate (except SoftwareLists are not complete). |
@shanigma, where does your 0.37b5 dat come from? I used the one from Progettosnaps to make a complete 0.37b5 set and none of the files you requested are in that set. Also none of the files that o1167008 request are in that 0.37b5 set, so I guess mame4all doesn't use the 0.37b5 set. |
Apparently this has to do with 'inverted crc32' being used for bad dumps in Mame 0.37b5 and mame4all. In Clrmamepro you can set an option to support inverted crc32, I don't know if Romvault has that option too.
From http://www.logiqx.com/DatFAQs/ROMQuestions.php A complemented CRC (sometimes represented using the notation ~) means that the ROM may be incorrect/incomplete/bad but is the best available at that time. The complemented CRC is calculated by inverting the CRC for the best available ROM (i.e. binary 0's turned to 1's and 1's turned to 0's). Complemented CRCs allow emulators and ROM managers to identify the best available ROM but understand that it may not be 100% correct. Since MAME v0.68, a new method of specifying these ROMs has been used; MAME now uses a ROM flag of 'baddump' to indicate that the ROM is incorrect/incomplete/bad. Data files for ClrMamePro should now use the 'flag baddump' syntax in addition to the actual CRC but RomCenter and many other emulators still need to use complemented CRCs.
Edit: Using the inverted crc32 option in clrmamepro I was able to build both your complete missing sets. You will have to set the inverted crc32 option in your rom manager to rebuild the old Mame 0.37b5 set. https://mega.nz/#F!gZ1SQY7I!yBygLehdQ7gVTtIoS8v5xg (those roms are also in the mame 0.37b5 set on archive.org) |
In Clrmamepro you can set an option to support inverted crc32, I don't know if Romvault has that option too.
Unfortunately not. Even the latest RomVault beta does not have that option. I also think that inverted CRCs are the cause. Could you maybe do a dir2dat of your 0.37b5 complete version for me without that inverted CRCs thing? I tried to rebuild the set with the ClrMamePro but after 20 minutes I canceled it, it takes to long for my feeling. By the way, a pity because it has very useful features. Maybe someday I'll be able to deal with it enough. Thanks in Advance |
Dir2dat attached. |
@shanigma I joined this forum because I have been having the same issue with 0.37b5, ROMVault and inverted CRCs. Thank you for your post. |
I don´t understand why Tournament Arkanoid does not work in MAME 0.106. I´ve putted the arkatour.uc archive in the rom zip, but don´t enter the game in it... :( |

Hi, I've decided to join this forum, just because I've come across this exact issue myself. I've used Mame since it's first release and have never quite been able to get to grips with ClrMamePro, so I also use ROMVault to maintain a few different sets that I use or have used on various projects. It's simple and it works, except for this Mame version it seems. I'm not that worried whether I have a 100% complete set with all the clones etc, although it's very, very close, but it's the as to why, when I have the correct .dat / .xml and using the archive.org reference files, it's been driving me mad trying to figure out the problem. thanks to this post, I now know why, and have what seems to be the solution in the form of a different .dat @noone I know it's an old post, but Thank you for the dir2dat .dat file, it'll hopefully save me having to learn ClrMamePro |
