Regarding Atomiswave / Naomi / Naomi 2 emulation in MAME - after spending time finding ROMs and getting them setup for MAME, you are going to be greatly disappointed when using MAME to play these games.  Save yourself time, energy and disappointment and use demul emulator to play these games.  If you want to just play these games and are not interested in how the emulators work behind the scenes, then it really doesn't matter how old the emulator is - use demul and you won't be disappointed.  Demul uses ROMs the same way MAME does so once you have the ROMs setup for one, the other should also work.  You can also use ClrMAME Pro to verify your ROM sets for both demul and MAME.
